158 Squadron..."Strength in Unity"

This fabulous war memorial is a short drive from Bridlington on the Lissett to Driffield road.

During WWII an airfield was based at Lissett and the memorial lists the names of all those who lost their lives. I think it's a wonderful example of someone thinking outside of the box and presenting a very effective sculpture to pay tribute to their bravery.

It's site also provide a great viewpoint for the wind turbines which, I believe, now stand on the land that was the old airfield.

It's a wonderful thing to see as you're driving along, and you literally stumble upon it if you don't know it's there.
