barnacle babies
Snow this morning, then sunshine.
Still feeling ill but had to get a change of scene. We went for a drive along the coast and walked the dog on a little beach near Toe Head.
There was a plastic drum covered with goose barnacles washed ashore by a recent storm.
I had never seen them before, filter feeders in yellow striped white shells growing on long tubes.
It was hard to choose a picture but I like this one because it shows the new small barnacles appearing to grow as offshoots from the adult, as with some plants.
