The Adventures of Pippin

Pippin does pilates

Woooooohoooooooo! I've been trying to get a picture of Pippin doing this for ages!

She has a little routine she does when she gets out of bed: she goes into that yoga position "downward dog" and then moves her weight onto her front paws and stretches her back legs out behind her, lifting first one leg, then the other, off the ground.

It's not a perfect shot - I took it a fraction of a second too soon so she hadn't quite lifted her foot off the ground yet, but it's pretty close. I guess I need one of those fancy cameras to be able to get the shot I want.

Anyway, I know she's not really doing pilates (just in case anyone thinks I am completely mad), but she does actually hold the position and stretch her leg out in quite a considered manner, which I suppose is why it makes me laugh so much and why I wanted to photograph it.

I think I'll pay closer attention next time and see whether she does her legs in any particular order. She has quite a few funny little habits, so I'm going to go ahead and guess that she does.

I've never had my camera to hand when she's done this before, so am feeling really pleased that I did tonight. Actually, the only reason I had it was because we were going to give her some haggis, which I thought would make a good blip. We were having it a day late cos I was out last night at a talk in Glasgow by Shami Chakrabarti, the Director of Liberty.

It was amazing - she was such a good speaker. I can't believe how much she knows. Really wish I was that clever.

Anyway, that's the haggis in the dish above the dishwasher there. And those are my birthday balloons in the top left hand corner. I might try and back blip a birthday pic of me and Pip. We'll see.
