The Beginning
This is my friend Chamika, we went and bought her a new camera today, no no, not just any camera, we bought her an Analogue camera, Yes I know.
Its the beginning of a beautiful relationship, and here it is captured for you on digital film. There is this amazing shop here in Shanghai Called Lomography (Lomography.com) and its an entire community of people dedicated to Anaglogue photography, I am thinking of getting involved in it myself. It's really really, awesome, check out the website. Maybe a little retro, but I think its really really cool. I am thinking of maybe with a new paycheck going and getting an analogue camera and seeing what I can do.
COuld be super fun. I haven't played with pinhole and fisheye stuff in forever. We'll see. It was a lot of fun to see Chamika begin her journey in the wonderful world of photography. She's excited as she should be. She bought a Diana F+, a camera made entirely out of.. yeah you guessed it, plastic, its a neat little camera. She seems really excited. We are going to go out and play some before I leave for Hangzhou. I love making new friends.
Lomography is cool, I'm excited to play with the ideas though I do not have an analogue currently. We'll see. Fun world, fun times.
I spent my wad today buying a new guitar, cause I had to leave my baby in the states, and although he is not my baby, he will certainly get me by for the next year. He is a nice guitar, a dove guitar a compilation of french and chinese technology. I needed the processing ability, as I have been dealing with a lot of things I never expected to.
I find my struggles are deeper than I thought they were, some of the things I thought I'd processed are coming back up and sometimes I just want to crawl into a hole and cry. I know getting over things takes time, but I am afraid I am a little to impatient and I just long for the freedom of it being over. Of not being.. well broken anymore, but I know that will take time, time that is precious and hard to take. I've discovered that its simply walking forward most days, treasuring memories like this today, treasuring memories of sitting in a guitar shop and playing a 25,000 RMB( about 4,000.00 US dollars) Taylor. Lovely guitar. Couldn't afford it.
