LUDDENDEN, NEAR HALIFAX
We didn't have to go far today for a spot of birding. And looking for a very small, white-headed bird in snow was perhaps not the easiest of tasks, but we succeeded and got a life-tick. Northern Long-tailed Tits, and very cute they were too, though getting a photo of them was impossible, as they flitted about in the trees with the sun behind them. We got excellent views of them through binoculars though and it was worth the nip in the air. Walking down into the valley was lovely as the sun was shining on the new snow, but it's lucky the local postman pointed us in the right direction, about a mile further along the road, or else we would have spent the morning just having a pleasant walk.
