Catching the elusive....

... squirrel!

We have lived in our current (rented) house for just over two years. For much of the time we've spent in Geneva I have maintained that there were no squirrels here, as I had never actually seen one. Where I came from in Northern Michigan, squirrels are as plentiful and common as pigeons in London, so the absence was notable.

The first summer we lived in this house, I did notice that there seemed to be a squirrel or two hanging about in the bushes that border our back garden, but it was months before I actually saw one. I've tried several times to catch one with my camera, but they were always too quick to disappear, and I never saw more than the end of a tail.

This morning there were two in this tree, busily eating the (too early) buds, so I ran for the camera. By the time I was in position, one had disappeared and the other was on the wrong side of the tree with multiple branches blocking my view. After several minutes of waiting, this little guy finally decided his lunch break was over and went scurrying down towards the fence.

It's a bit blurry but will have to do....
