A trip down memory lane

Today I visited a Twitter friend who lives not that far from me. She was one of the crew who went to Birdfair last year (see August 2011)

As the crow flies she only lives around 15 miles from me but, as there is a river in the way and the ferry at Reedham is currently undergoing maintenance, I had to detour by 10 miles or so via Gt Yarmouth.

When I was a child, and not living in East Anglia, my maternal grandparents lived near Norwich and we visited fairly regularly. After we moved here we continued monthly visits until 1984, when my grandfather moved to live with my parents after the death of my grandmother.

Janet lives in a village not far from where they used to live and where I remember playing as a child. So today we revisited some of the places from my past, including a walk around the hamlet where my grandparents lived.

It was quite strange seeing these places again. Mixed emotions. Have other photos of the day but will link to them tomorrow as a bit tired now. Too much sloe gin as well!!

This cute little fella is Janet's puppy, Dexter, a Norwich Terrier. What a character!
