Here is the answer to yesterday's cliff hanger. Our new purchase is a 40" 1080p HDTV.

*pause to wipe up my drool*

We went shopping yesterday for a new DVD player as Grace had managed to ruin ours. The DVD player was also the sound system for our ageing TV set, which was then rendered pretty useless as we couldn't hear what was going on (the sound on the old TV having gone wonky a long time ago). We had intended to go for a 32" TV and Hubby had done exhaustive searches online for the best quality/value one we could get. We weren't intending to actually buy one until next month at the earliest, but in the shop yesterday we were checking out the one we wanted and then we saw the 40" version of it...at exactly the same price.
'What's up with that?' we asked The Sales Guy.
'Um, we had a lot in stock,' came the reply.
So Hubby went ahead and bought it.
Well, why not?
