Odd One Out

Not a mistake! When I have only one bulb of a variety I prefer to plant it in with other bulbs. Uniform pots sizes makes watering easier ... and I think they like the company! Not just a joke, many bulbs form clumps both in the wild and in cultivation, sometimes seeming to derive benefit from growing en-masse.

Crocus sieberi 'George', a selected form of subspecies sieberi is another crocus with striking outer petals and a complete contrast inside.

Iris hyrcana is a diminutive form of Iris reticulata native to the Talish mountains in Azerbaijan, it is only 1 to 2 inches high in flower.

Bring on the snow ... still hoping for some winter weather here. Better for the bulbs if they don't flower so early, the cold will slow things down.
