Strange tree

This strange tree is in our garden. I don't know what it is, and can't remember what it looked like in summer. It's in a prime spot to be cleared away along with other saplings, when we get round to that stage of renovation, but I'm inclined to leave it there and see what happens to it. Anyway, it was striking against the blue sky today, but the mono phase continues.

The bright blue skies meant, of course, that it was freezing cold. Minus one this morning, and staying that way out of the sun for most of the day. In the sun, it was pleasant to be outside, and I think the robin was delighted to see me digging more compost into the soil. A few hard frosts seem to have loosened things up slightly, so the work is getting easier. The other birds were just delighted that I've found a new cheap supply of fat balls, so they are no longer being rationed. In this weather, I think we could all use a little extra insulation.

In other news, painting the bedroom windows, which of course meant having the windows open. Brrrrr. Now I've closed them before they're dry, which of course means they will be sealed shut tomorrow.
