House Construction--Paris: II
The builders have been making progress on the house they are adding floors to opposite our apartment. Here's the first view, taken eight days ago.
Having more or less done the first floor (in the U.S. we would call it the second floor), they have moved on to the top. This morning they were hoisting a load of concrete blocks for the walls. The hoist rolls on a short rail hanging from the blue framework at the top; it is mechanized, controlled by the small yellow object held by one of the workers above.
The hoist's yellow bucket holds only two blocks at once, so it took quite a while. On the left above(view it large), notice the tight string they have stretched to align the blocks for the end wall on a slight slant. It's all arduous work, not least at today's temperatures (just above freezing, with some wind).
