No more white trainers....
I ran home from work today.
It's five miles as the crow flies, across fields and along footpaths. I haven't done any running since the dramatic Peggy rescue in November, which was an impromptu 3 mile run along the Edale valley in hiking boots.
This morning I took the company car back to work and thought that I'd do a bit of cross training. So left the bike at home and took this pair of trainers to work instead. I realised as I was running home that I've owned these trainers since the early 90's and I used to wear them when I ran around doing my paper round! Strange though, they are still amazingly comfortable and cushion my feet so well. However, the lack of any semblance of tread on the soles left a lot to be desired in the mud.
The run was great! Once I'd warmed up a bit, running through woodland singletrack, jumping ditches, ducking under trees, vaulting styles, fantastic. A strangely satisfying buzz. Can't understand what the attraction of running on the road is though. very dull.
The reason for all this training?
Blatant plug for sponsorship.
