Wild

Although the weather today was chilly, it wasn't particularly windy, but there was a fair swell on the western side of the Churchill Barriers. I had an appointment in Kirkwall so had to cross them, but luckily it was just spray rather than actual waves that hit the car.

For the last thirty years I used to cross them twice a day going to work, but now it has become much less routine and slightly more exciting an experience! The sea water plays havoc with the car's bodywork, but when there are stones in the waves they can come through the windscreen and can cause really serious accidents. The worst I have had is seaweed getting tangled on the wiper blades so that even when the waves had run off I still couldn't see where I was going!
