maybe I should move to the mountains...
...and play in this all day!
Unfortunately what started out as an amazing bluebird weekend then became the worst blizzard conditions I have ever experienced. Almost the entire mountain was shut down due to very high winds and almost no visibility. Winds at the top were at a sustained 120 mph, and even down near the bottom we often found ourselves unable to see 5 feet in front of us, not knowing which way was down. But the snow was amazing as it dumped 20 inches of nice light powder that day. Needless to say I had to put the camera away when the weather got nasty, so no photos to share.
The lifts we needed to get back to our car closed without warning, and we were forced to take a gondola all the way back to town, then wait a half an hour in the blizzard for a bus back up the mountian to our car. Once digging out the car, we slowly made the 5 mile trip down the mountian. With little or no visibility, I feared we we might run off the road into a 6 foot snow drift to be found the next day frozen inside our car. But we made it down safe thanks to some patience and a good set of snow chains.
