New Life

One of my closest friends is in surgery right now -- donating a kidney in what's a somewhat historic three-way "paired donation" taking place across the USA.

It took so long to get to this point -- lots of bureaucracy and red tape -- and there were times when it seemed it couldn't possibly happen. But it did, and here I am -- waiting for what is supposed to be three hours, but already seems like a lifetime.

One of the Denver TV stations shot video of Martha and her donor yesterday -- you can see it here. I understand folks from the same station are in the OR this morning, outfitted in scrubs (rolls eyes).

Anyway, it's an incredible gift she's given someone -- a gift of new life -- and I am soooo inspired.
