Daugava River

This is the Daugava River frozen solid. Can't believe I haven't been down to see this sooner, to be honest.

Sure it's an annual scene here, but I don't think I've ever seen a river like this. I remember in my childhood when the local lake froze over and two children ventured onto it, drowning when the surface cracked. Horrible memory.

Here it looks like I'm standing right in the middle, but really I'm on a bridge, with barely any feeling in my face thanks to the -17 temperature.
