FIGGY's Sporadic Blips

By Figgy

Just had to stop .........

.... and blip Stirling Castle this morning swathed in glorious sunshine.

First, my rant - I visited Stirling Community Hospital (recently downgraded from Stirling Royal Infirmary) today for my annual coeliac catch up. Seemingly hospital waiting rooms do not supply magazines now for reasons of cross infection! Why then do they supply medical leaflets covering illnesses from Alzheimers to Xenaphobia (and everything in between)? Is it impossible for such publications to hold the same cross infection? I sat in a waiting room for 45 minutes along with 11 others all looking at the floor, walls and / or ceiling then met with the Doc for three. I must remember to take my Kindle with me next year!

Second, my blip - People of a certain age who remeber the 1972 BBC tv series Colditz starring David McCallum, Bernard Hepton, and Robert Wagner, will recognise Stirling Castle from the credits. Some of the scenes were also filmed within the castle compound.

Those of you who have ever travelled North / South on the M9 between Perth and Glasgow cannot help but have been impressed at the magnificent view of the castle accross The Carse at Stirling.

Recently renovated to it's original splendour, The Great Hall is well worth a visit.
