Today we were out and about on a 4x4 (with a driver!!) to explore beautiful white beaches.

In the south Praia Santa Monica a 15 km long white beach, Praia Varadinha with stunning rocks formation and where a sea eagle was hunting for preys. Amazing

In the north Cabo Santa Maria where there is the wreck of a Spanish ship very close to the shore. Quite dramatic.

So I have many shots of these beautiful places and even one almost good of the sea eagle but the shot that really moved me today is this one.
Taken in the oldest village in Boa Vista, Povoação Velha. I wonder how many things this woman have seen in her life, would have been great to have a chat with her.

A bit of history : In Boa Vista, while most of the population live in Sal Rei, there are many small settlements with 10 to 100 people; others are abandoned. It has the smallest population of all of inhabited Cape Verde's islands, and it is the least-dense populated in the archipelago. Its economy was originally based on agriculture, but desertification led to salt collection becoming more important. Its main industries today are date farming and, increasingly, tourism, with already several touristic establishments being built in recent times. I dont know if this is a good or bad thing though!
