LYNX

at the Wildpark Neuhaus. Today we make a trip to Neuhaus, for an agreable change. The light is perfect, we drive through the Solling forest, higher up the hills, 18 km till we reach Neuhaus. The ground under the trees is white of a thin layer of snow. The road however is free of snow and dry.
Before we could take of, several questions arose. One: will it be open, in the leaflet (an old one perhaps) it was said in february closed, so we phoned to be sure.
Two: will it not be too cold, at 8 o'clock at Beverungen it was said to be 13 degrees C. below zero. 3: will the animals be in the open air ? And some minor questions too.
At the park we went to see the wolves, many of them between trees and they walk in pairs. Then the deers, gathered around their feeding place. They are not behind fences and we walk slowly there and look at them for a rather long time, the silence is so wonderful. Till our toes begin to freeze. We see 5 or 6 wild cats lying on the rocks in the sun that just arrives above the hill.
At the place where the raccoons live, no one to be seen, they certainly sleep tightly together in their house on the pole.
More red deers and boars in a large field. Leaving the path surrounded by trees it is much warmer, the sun shining so bright already.
The last animals to see are the lynx, we see two or three and one walks towards us and makes the blipfoto.

My haiku:

We count animals
And our delighted blessings
Trees will flower again

And the proverb:

They have need of a blessing that kneel to a thistle.
