St. Nicholas' Church, Lanark
Ventured down to Lanark today, since I was at a loose end today and have a weekly bus ticket that may aswell be used!
This, I thought, was the Town Hall but it's St. Nicholas' Church, which plays a part in Lanark's annual Lanimer Day celebrations. Something I've never seen but I understand it's related to the town being designated a Royal Burgh.
Pretty much the usual weather thesedays - blue sky and very cold. The wind was absolutely bitter down in Lanark, not so much when back in Hamilton but near enough!
Doubt it reached zero degrees in Lanarkshire; far from the temperatures in Central Europe at present but it is certainly cold enough for me.
According to Wikipedia - the bell in the church may date back to 1110 and would make it one of the oldest church bells in the world. The statue is of William Wallace and Lanark itself is the 100th largest settlement in Scotland! - useless trivia or interesting facts...you decide!
