The end of Rome
Not literally, just the end of my time in Rome and thus the end of my trip to Italy. Boo. Never been to Italy before this trip but will definitely go back.
As for the picture, well, if I remember everything correctly then the ruins are the remains of Emperor Trajan's marketplace, or to give him his full title, Imperator Caesar Marcus Ulpius Nerva Traianus Augustus Germanicus Dacicus. Beat that, Russell Crowe! Incidentally, Trajan had a son, Hadrian, who is rather well known in my part of the world for building a wall.
Anyway, back to the pic. For those of you who know the place, Trajan's column is just to the left out of shot and the monument to Vittorio Emanuele II is just to the right. The masonry tower in the background is allegedly the spot where Nero fiddled while Rome burned back in the day, hence the intentionally ambiguous title.
Back in the UK and at work tomorrow.
