Fish for tea /dinner
Depending on the term you use for the evening meal. I've always called it tea but then I'm a commoner. lol
Actually this had just been delivered to us from Grimsby by the fish company we use. We got some fancy fish cakes too along with some scampi.
So it was freshly delivered and eaten the same evening and it was delicious.
I cooked it in a microwaveable steamer which worked well.
This morning when I got up mum was coming out into the hall and I told her to go back into the living room as it was warmer in there. She wouldn't so I said I was going in and she could follow me. Well it was absolutely freezing in there.
I thought she'd turned the fire off but no, she'd only opened the door to the garden (which she can't get out to thankfully) and hadn't closed it again. So she was there in her nightie in a totally freezing cold room and was dithering when I was getting her changed.
I put warmed clothing on her, made her a mug of coffee, sat her in her chair with the fire on full and covered her with a blanket. I then made her a bowl of porridge.
She had several layers on and eventually warmed up.
I've developed a liking for porridge just lately. It's so yummy.
The Podiatrist called this morning to do her feet and noticed that mum had lost a toenail. I never saw it about. Wonder when it came off. Could have been when the nurses were changing her dressings. They said there was a 50/50 chance it would grow back.
