Concrete The Forgotten Wonder

Concrete, whats so special about concrete? Concrete probably springs to mind the though of 1960's tower blocks, generally poor design and environmental damage however I would beg to differ. Concrete I would argue is one of the most important materials humans have at their disposal.

It can be polished to create wonderful shiny finishes as well as cast into almost any shape, like here how I have cast some concrete into an ice cubes shape (for some of my DT work a while ago). I find the colours in concrete amazing something to marvel at as well as the occasional sighting of the gravel or course sand that makes up the concrete which add great contrast too the grey colour. Not to start on the amazing compressive strength and relative low price of the material!

Concrete is something that is here to stay, love it or hate it next time you see a slab of concrete try to appreciate it's colours and shape rather than writing it off to being an awful modern cost cutting design.

Oh yes incase any specialist are checking I suppose there is some argument to be had is this is cement or concrete due to the lack of large gravel.
