Going for gold!

An incredibly tough call today! This is what I saw as I stepped out of the car, but in the end. it had to be this little thing - a goldcrest, our smallest native bird. They are really hard to photograph as they are tiny, shy and never keep still, , but two of them hung around and flitted about for ages, and even got quite close.
Pete drove me out to Damflask, one of our many local reservoirs, and we had a shortish walk. It's brilliant for bird photography as lots of people put food down, so the birds are really tame and will pose nicely. It was a lovely clear, cold, crisp day, but two layers of long johns had the desired effect. I've never looked lovelier!
Here's another one of the obliging little goldcrest
