Mouloud (The Prophets Birthday)

A combination of a mirror like river Nile, spectacular cloud formation and the sun bursting through over Luxor Temple, was a fitting start to the day. Today is 'Mouloud' which is the birthday of The Prophet Mohammed. (12th day of the Islamic month of 'Rabi' al-awwal')

The crossing from the West Bank to the East, was serene, quiet and breathtaking. Still a little fresh, people crossed their arms, hugged themselves and put heads down to protect their faces from the headwind, occasionally glancing up to the skies, as the clouds put on their show.

This man caught my eye, as he sat alone on the ferry. Dressed in an impeccably white, silk like cotton gallabeya, shash and crocheted skull cap, I imagined who he was, where he was going and why.
