The Adventures of Pippin

Wine tasting

This is Pippin having a lick of some dessert wine! She thought it was great. She was moving her head about a LOT whilst trying to get every last drop off my Dad's finger, hence the slight blurriness of this picture. But I quite like the way that it also probably reflects her current state of mind as well.

The dessert wine was a Christmas present from my sister's lovely friend Oranne who came for Christmas this year. She is from the south of France and also brought us some yummy French chocolates. I am not a big wine drinker, but will give it a go now and then! This was quite nice and sweet (probably why I liked it). Most of the ones in our house are very dry and I like them not at all.

When we had Topaz, our beagle, we would occasionally give her a lick of some wine or other alcoholic drink and, at first, she would think it was great because it tasted nice. But then, moments later, she would be off digging frantically in the corner of the kitchen because it went straight to her head! It was very funny. Clearly did not agree with her at all. So, eventually, she got wise to it and, as soon as she sniffed the stuff, she would get as far away from whoever was offering it to her as possible. And sometimes would still end up digging! Poor thing. Never held it against us though!

Alcohol has no such effects on Pippin, but she is quite loopy generally. She would have been quite happy to have some more tonight, but we thought a lick of each of my Dad's little fingers was quite enough for someone so small!

Also noteworthy in this picture I feel, is my Dad's cardigan. He got it when he was doing winter warfare training in Norway in the 70s. It's made of reindeer hair so is super warm, but he's got quite a few layers on underneath as well because our house is so cold! And he never normally feels the cold - is one of those strange warm people you get!
