Goodbye Dubai
My journey to Kerala can be summed up in one word: long.
First leg to Dubai was OK. Sat next to an elderly English lady who had emigrated to Perth, Australia in 1973. She was pleasant enough as long as I steered her away from her tendency towards 'England's gone to the dogs' type conversations.
Dubai airport is vast and a hideous temple to consumerism. This blip sums up its assault on the senses.
I then found myself on a cramped aircraft for 4hrs sat next to an initially nice Keralan man who lived in Londonderry and was going home to see his family in Cochin. He got progressively more over-excited and stupid as he drank six brandies. I had a complete sense of humour failure at around brandy no 4.
I'm now staying in a lovely room with wifi (hence this blip). A short sleep has restored my spirit and I'm off to explore on my own. I've had enough of talkative companions for the day!
