Took the day off today so ample opportunity to get an early blip in. I took this picture just before we set off for school. And I'm posting it two days later! That's no good.

I remember when we had to do Alana's hair. She grows more and more independent. At school she shoots off as we get near the gates.

Took Louis to the hospital for his ear appointment. It's not great news. We were hoping the tear in his ear had healed but were told it looks like it won't heal by itself. Grommet I his other ear has fallen out too. Which makes things no better off than when we started and makes his grommet operation a waste of time. They put it in his good ear anyway and are now told he doesn't really need one in that ear.

The problem with the tear is that they will not try to fix it until he is about twelve or thirteen. This leaves his ear prone to infection so the doctor says he shouldn't go swimming or go in the sea until it is fixed. Louis is becoming a really good little swimmer so it was a bit sad to hear this. No swimming for six years? The doctor eventually said we could try it and see how it goes. He has his moulded ear plugs and we can get a special head band so we might try it.

One thing I am constantly aware of is that there are kids out there with far far worse things. He will be fine with his dodgy ear. He has one good ear and he can hear something in the other. He just has an excuse for ignoring us until he is a teenager. I imagine he will then ignore us without the need for an excuse!
