Heron

I took my walk very early this morning and the light was simply beautiful. There seemed to be a golden hue on the entire park.

The heron let me get very near him. Usually he's off very quickly, but he didn't seemed to mind me much today. It's not easy to remember to be careful in those rare moments; when herons attack, they go straight for the eyes. Just take a look at the beak and you can imagine the result. They do all their fishing this way.

However, before I could get too enthusiastic a jogger arrived, complete with a Dalmatian dog and the bird left.
