Return to the Desert!

Talk about Murphy's Law! When we booked out tickets to go to the UK I was hoping that, being in winter and a good time for snow, that I'd actually finally get to see some. However the 10 days passed with glorious sunshine, no rain, a nice nip to the air which I enjoyed, but no snow!! Weather predictions said it would snow on Saturday so I woke up ready to see white lawn, only to see bright blue skies yet again. We were only due to fly out at 10pm so decided to go and see "War Horse" in the afternoon which is a real tear jerker and I cried from beginning to end! When we got out the skies were grey and we set off to say our goodbyes to my son and grandkids before heading to the airport... and then.....just when we had to leave for the airport... the snow started coming down! The South Africans (me, my son and my half South African grandson) rushed outside to enjoy the moment whilst our better halves sat indoors muttering about this unfortunate event!

I reluctantly boarded the plane which ended up being a 5 1/2 hour wait before our plane was finally de-iced and we could set off down the runway. Needless to say I spent those hours with my face glued to the window enjoying watching the snowflakes fall.

So now the big jacket, beenies, gloves and scarves have all been packed away ....until next time......when hopefully I will be able to enjoy some real snow!
