Ice skating...

From near spring (only about a week ago) to Siberian type temperatures, meant that it was possible to skate on natural formed ice this weekend.

In The Netherlands these deep freeze temperatures mean the speculations wether or not the "Elfstedentocht" can go ahead this year are growing louder by the day. This ice skating tour along the 11 cities of Friesland, my home county, is one of the most (if not THE) coveted ice skating tours in the Netherlands. The last elfstedentocht dates from 1997, as conditions need to be exceptional for the whole route to freeze over completely (and to enough thickness).

We'll see, keeping my fingers crossed it will happen this year!
