There was a thin layering of wet snow that brightened the woods and added interest to an otherwise drab walk to water the cows in the bottom field.

It has been an unusually warm Winter with little cold weather and almost no snow.

I'm becoming doubtful that I will get to break out the cross country skis.

On the upside the lake hasn't frozen over, allowing for Winter kayaking.

Alas, today I am home in bed, sick with a miserable cold, and kayaking would probably mean an inglorious brush with death from pneumonia....
