Sadly, I've no idea what this material is, spotted in the hedgerow ... (enlightenment please ...?!) but it does remind me of Lord Percy's attempt (Series 2, Episode 4) to restore Blackadder's finances through alchemy. Perhaps, after his creation of the unpleasant 'Purest Green', he branched out into other colours ...?
