Cutty Wren

He's Troglodytes troglodytes troglodytes, one of the finest Linnean names ever. Tiny wee thing, about 9 cm from tip of beak to ludicrous cocked tail. A very loud song, and he's King of the Birds.

The story goes that the birds were going to decide their king by a competition to see who could fly the highest. The eagle thought he had won, as he soared above the rest of them, but he had not noticed that the wren had hidden on his back, and so took off and flew above him when the eagle could climb no more...
