Lonely

This was taken in the rigs derrick, the pipe next to him (on his left) is a joint of casing being ran into the well.

This guys job is to unlatch the lifting arrangement seen at the top of the joint and make sure that this joint is lined up with the preceding joint below which it will be threaded onto. This joint has already been threaded on which is why the lifting collar is loose.

Not the best of jobs standing in that crane for hours. At that moment he is about 50' up in the air. This casing will never see the light of day again as once it is ran into the well and cemented in place it can never be recovered.

I don't know why, maybe because his face is darkened, but he looks very lonely to me.
