festivals #2
awoke to thunderous pouring rain - ah yes, cavalcade day! it turned into thunderous heavy showers, and perked up into blue sky for a bit before the grey returned this afternoon. still, beats being rained on when you're trekking around the centre of edinburgh in, oh, nothing but a leotard, for example, as one troupe of baton-twirling girls was. not sure the drumkats' (above) velvet would have stood up to the rain that well, tho i think their pvc boots are probly waterproof ;-) today's blip was a toss-up between them and rather sweet small child wearing the head of the koala (don't call it a koala bear, it's not a bear, it's a marsupial!) costume being worn by what i assume was a doting dad. but really, the kats and the kilt is far more edinburgh... (and though it's not the greatest of shots - too many random people in the background for starters - i like the clash of colour and black, trad and funky drummers, too)
