The Edge of the Wold

Two suns

There was one teleconference after another today, and no opportunity for a sortie to the River Kent in pursuit of the Kendal Three. I had had no walk and at 4 pm I simply had to escape from the office. The sun was sinking, and it was promising one of those spectacular Arnside sunsets.

In the event this was almost the last I saw of the sun, it was swallowed by the cloud bank shortly afterwards and there was only the faintest pink tinge left in the sky. This was taken standing on the Sandside prom looking down the Kent estuary to the Arnside viaduct.

In the late afternoons, the gulls are moving down into Morecambe Bay as part of their daily commute up and down the estuary.

Tonight we are told will be the coldest night of the winter.
