Readings From Dickens.
In 1858 Charles Dickens gave two readings from his works in the lecture hall of The Assembly Rooms in Huntriss Row, Scarborough above the billiard room ( now a Pizza Hut restaurant).
That event is marked by a Scarborough Heritage Trail plaque.
Dickens was born on February 7th 1812, and to mark the 200th anniversary of that event my wife is standing outside the old assembly rooms, reading her favourite of his books.
Her idea, not mine, I hasten to add.
