Clunk, clip, every trip

Tomorow I'm planning to cycle to work. It'll be the first time I've ridden my bike wearing long trousers so I popped into the local bike shop for a pair of bike clips.

I remember my father having a pair of these but his were just plain metal.

I'm wondering if the hi-vis finish makes them more 'hip' or if they look just as old fashioned as they ever did...
