Deer, Roe Deer
We have been seeing the small roe deer herd at Archerfield, East Lothian for about a week.
They are all female and are being followed around by a much larger buck, and a young fox.
I know why the male is following them. I don't know what the fox gets out of it.
The deer are much larger than the fox, we have seen them facing him down if he gets too close, so I don't think they are prey. Perhaps they occasionally disturb smaller animals.
They are very beautiful though.
Big doe
And if I ever actually catch them eating my shrubs, I'll...I'll...
...probably just shoo them away a bit
