Dirt Lover's Paradise

I do not know, nor do I understand, why both of my cats love the dirt as much as they do.

Especially the white one, of course, finds it delightful to roll in it and cover herself in brown dirt quite frequently. Camouflage, maybe? For what?

She miraculously cleans herself up again, but not before leaving traces all over the house, unless I manage to get to her before that (in which case I first "slap" the dirt off her, and then try to do damage control using a wet towel).
