The end of the world?

Today was another day with little photographic inspiration, which left me reluctant to post a half-baked image; yet desperate not to miss a day.

Yet sometimes waiting a day and being forced into a backblip pays off - because it creates a story around what was just a very ordinary image.

This is a snap of the sunset taken through a patio door to capture the 'second sun' effect that the light was making on the glass.

Then today, 8 February, I had a fairly lengthy conversation with a colleague about the end of the world, apparently predicted for 21 December 2012.

This particular Doomsday theory is based on a planet-sized object, called Nibiru or Planet X, currently hiding behind our sun, that will pass close enough to our planet to cause catastrophic changes such as the eruption of super volcanoes, giant earthquakes, mega tsunamis, and a polar shift. Oh, and all this will essentially wipe out the human race.

Whether you believe it or not - and a quick search on the internet will reveal that many do - astronomers have rejected this theory with NASA providing some very sensible answers as to why the world won't end on 21 December.

Even better is the site 2012hoax which has masses of answers, scientific explanations and information about the 2012 Doomsday.

In the meantime, I'll leave you with my own snapshot of Nibiru.

It appears to be a lot bigger that the 2012ers claim.

And closer.

I mean, it's ACTUALLY IN MY GARDEN!

RUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNN!!!
