This is a bronze on the side of the original wellhead (1646) in the High st (royal mile) Edinburgh.
It was replaced eventually by a water storage tank on Castlehill (now a restaurant), and would every day flood the High street with water to allow the effluence that had gathered on the street to be flushed away, an early attempt at public health.
