Splish-Splash

I am starting to get to grips with complicated settings on the new camera. I understand how to change the shutter speed and how to configure ISO, however, there is a third format when I manually change the shutter speed; F. The default was F3.3, could anyone tell me what this means? It would be greatly appreciated :)
