friday night fire

Well, we had a wonderful day at the store today! Winter can be a slow time in our industry but the past few days have been steady. Hoping for a really good weekend! :o)

There is a reason I am blipping our lovely fire tonight....

About a week ago, we decided to start a fire, relax with a glass of wine and visit. Just hubby and me. We have so much unpacking but we just wanted to chill. So, we went and got a few of those fake fire logs that you can buy in any market that are wrapped in paper. My husband was lighting the fire while I was getting our wine. I came around the corner and there was a little smoke. Hmmmm....must just be because he just started it. Well, the house quickly filled with smoke and the alarms starting going off! We finally got the fire out and opened all the windows. It was freezing out that night! The alarms finally stopped buzzing. Once it was all clear we just went to bed. We failed at fire that night.
Yesterday, the chimney sweep was here!! Yay! Come to find out, the flew was rusted, the cable to it was broke and someone had caulked the cover to the top of the chimney. Now THAT would have been nice to know!!! So, we are once again planning on relaxing in front of the fire. Now this time it's a wonderful experience!! G'nite everyone and have a fabulous weekend!
