Pylon
Up fairly early this morning, I happened to glimpse an attractive sunrise, coming up over the hills. A quick change and drive to Hollingworth Lake. There I spent about 30 chilly minutes photographing the frozen lake and the lively Canada Geese. Another photographer was hogging the spot where I wanted to stand but he moved on, suffering under my steely glare (from 50 metres away.)
And then the sun actually rose above the Pennine crests. My favourite pictures then did not feature the lake at all. Normally I try to keep pylons and wires out of my shots. I regret that the UK didn't decide to use at least some of the billions produced by the National Lottery to bury cables and remove pylons from our more beautiful landscapes. But this one seemed to fit, somehow.
More from this morning can be seen here.
