Boots' Tower
Above the Strines reservoir west of Sheffield, stands Boot's Folly, also known as Strines Tower or Sugworth Tower. It was constructed in 1927 by Charles Boot of nearby Sugworth Hall to provide work for the hall's workmen during the depression. It originally had wooden panelling and a spiral staircase which was removed in the 1970s when a cow got in, climbed up to the top and got stuck. It had to be lowered down on ropes!
It's all fun and frolics in the countryside.
