The Customer Is Not Important
Over the preceding week I have been increasingly looking forward to a meal in TGI Friday's in Reading with Clare and the children. We made two attempts to book by telephone and on both occasions were told "it's not necessary to book" and today Mark called in in person and was told "just turn up", so we did.
From the outside through various windows you could see around 80% of the total tables, of these 40% were empty, imagine our surprise then when we were told it was full. Didn't seem to have room for families but had room for stag/hen parties or groups of twenty something's, the cynic in me would suggest that as they make their money through drinks they wouldn't want people in there to eat.
As it turns out we finished up in Franky & Benny's, the food much better, (according to family), service great, cocktails were the dogs undercarriage, a thoroughly enjoyable experience, so much so we are coming back for breakfast.
TGI's loss, they have now been removed from my 'Bucket List' without me visiting. I would complain but their probably not interested.
Travelling up yesterday it seemed that half the people we know were going in the same direction -Must Be Half Term.
We have worked hard today moving and clearing Mark's kitchen/diner, two walls painted to finish, one wall under coated and the doorway glossed. Tomorrow we work until the room is completed.
I also went to visit my Mum in St Peters Hospital, she is on the mend and receiving wonderful care, back to visit her again tomorrow.
The week-end is going well!
