cat paparazzi
My apologies for another cat photo but as today I was looking for an easy picture and the way my cat was coming with the light shining in her eyes it was something I couldn't resist.
The reason I was looking for a picture that wouldn't need a too-challenging post-processing work was that I was really interested to try shooting raw (NEF actually) and putting it through my workflow, especially since for a while now I have switched to Linux and open source software. In the end it proved fantastically easy. I used digikam to convert the raw file without any problem. then the program I use to rename the original photos (renrot) worked just fine on the raw files (I'll probably do this the other way around next time ;-). Finally Gimp was used to crop to the final image. Next step will be to find something more challenging so I can work more with the white balance side of things.
Also even though there isn't really a window between photographer and subject but nevertheless I felt that there was a divide between us, so I'll mark it for the assignment.
