Ups and downs
Today me 'n the CEO had the freedom of the city.
The boss was being treated to afternoon tea (how very Edinburgh!) by a friend as a late Birthday treat. (Turns out it involved more champagne than tea, but...)
So I was at the CEO's disposal all afternoon.
We decided to climb a mountain. Fortunately the mountain I wanted to climb was closed, so we resorted to plan B. Hillend. When we got there, though, the CEO had another plan. After marvelling over the engineering of the chairlift and tows ("it goes round and round and round and round and round and...") he decided the appropriate course of action would be to get the chairlift up.
Hillend (as I've lectured on this subject before) is the largest dry ski slope in Europe. Today, it was quite busy... So we waited in the queue to see if the CEO was big enough to use the chair.
Happily (for him), if he sat on my knee, he was.
So we did it. Right up to the top (he decided on the way up that he was going to taking up skiing, much to my delight - although the boss won't be too chuffed to hear it!). And back down again...
After, we scaled the mountain by foot too - armed only with rice cakes and a smoothy for sustenance. We made it. And still had time to go to the swings on the way home.
